What happens at a consultation?
Scheduling a consultation with Dr. Fragomen is your first step towards a new life. During a consultation the following happens:
-
You meet and speak with Dr. Fragomen about any issues you’re experiencing
-
Your symptoms and pain points are identified
-
A physical exam is performed to better understand your condition and optimize treatment
-
Dr. Fragomen personally reviews your x-rays, creates a custom care approach that best fits your needs, and answers all of your questions.
Why do we charge a consultation fee?
The fee ensures your position in Dr. Fragomen’s schedule and provides you with access to a wide variety of experts. Dr. Fragomen receives many requests everyday from all over the world. In order to make sure we’re seeing patients that are serious about their treatment, we charge a deposit fee when you make a consultation.

Do you accept insurance?
Dr. Fragomen performs all of his surgeries at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York, New York. A large majority of the costs incurred are from HSS. Please contact HSS Insurance Advisory 212-774-2607 for a list of insurances that they participate with.
Dr. Fragomen does not participate with any commercial insurance but if you have out-of-network benefits with your current insurance, we may bill them and they should reimburse a portion of the costs.
In some special cases, some insurances may allow in-network exceptions for patients without out of network benefits. In this case, they would process your claim with your in-network benefits in cases when they do not find an in-network provider that can perform the same services. We work with all patients with and without insurance.
Your surgery is customized to your personal needs. Once we know the exact procedure that you need, we'll retrieve the corresponding medical codes. The Surgical Coordinator will then e-mail you a breakdown of Dr. Fragomen’s Surgical Fees and a Surgical Checklist that will guide you through the process of contacting your insurance. There will also be contact information listed if you have questions for our staff.
